Streaky Bay bike survey

05 Nov, 2009 04:00 AM
The District Council of Streaky Bay is interested in locals’ thoughts on cycling around Streaky Bay and is looking into ways to improve cycling around the town for locals and tourists.

The council would like comments on how easy it is to ride around Streaky Bay and what can be improved to make it easier such as off-road bike paths to link facilities; additional signage for cyclists; more bike racks; or drinking fountains.

Council has engaged Tonkin Consulting to help prepare the bike plan which is being part funded through the State Bicycle Fund.

The consultants are surveying the community to find out what they think, and want to hear from regular bike riders and anyone who has always thought about riding but never quite got there for some reason.

The bike plan will form part of a Strategic Township Master Plan that council is developing for the future growth of the town.

The draft cycling plan will be developed in the coming months, with consultation occurring in the new year.

Future consultation will occur as part of the development of the Strategic Master Plan for Streaky Bay.

Surveys can be found at the council front office, the Streaky Bay Rural Transaction and Visitor Information Centre, the Streaky Bay Foreshore Tourist Park, Streaky Bay Newsagency, Streaky Bay Community Library or at www.streakbay .sa.gov.au.

All surveys need to be returned by hand, fax or post by Friday, November 27.
