The District Council of Streaky Bay is introducing an inaugural Community Asset Grant Scheme for the communities of Streaky Bay and districts.
Council researched the concept throughout 2009, and has allocated $20,000 from the 2009 / 2010 budget for a scheme similar to that of the Clare and Gilbert Valleys Council.
Des Jennings, the Chief Executive Officer with the District Council of Streaky Bay says, “This is an exciting prospect for community groups and organisations within our district.
“With the Township Master Plan underway, our community has had recent experience with long-term planning to determine strategic objectives for our district.
“The Asset Grant Scheme is a vehicle which will encourage organisations and committees to be more strategic and long term when planning for their own projects, with the knowledge that they can apply to a specific fund for such projects once a year.
“This will in turn stream-line councils’ commitment to a once off annual process when considering and allocating funding for community infrastructure projects.”
Grants of up to $2,000 will be allocated to successful applicants decided by a full panel of council in April 2010.
Community groups and organisations will be able to access documentation including the application form, guidelines, checklist and an evaluation form when considering if they wish to apply.
Successful applicants will be notified in May.
The first round of the Asset Grant Scheme will close on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 5pm.
Signed hardcopies with support material are accepted (although an electronic version can be lodged in addition to the hardcopy).
All forms are available in hardcopy at the District Council of Streaky Bay and Streaky Bay Rural Transaction and Visitor Information Centre front desks.
They are also online for downloading at:
