The three-bedroom Seadragon villa had its first booking in August and is the second five-star rating for a caravan park in Australia.

The thing that tipped the cabin into five-star territory was a feature wall and artwork by local artist Cindy Durant.

“You’ve got to have a wow factor with the architecture in the building,” joint owner Anna Brown said.

The cabin, which looks over Bosanquet Bay, has a full kitchen with stainless steel appliances including a dishwasher, a therapeutic spa in the ensuite, air conditioning, heated floors, Austar, DVD player, a balcony with barbecue and leather lounges and chairs.

Mrs Brown said clients would mostly be travellers but she and husband Lynton Brown are hoping to attract locals.

“We’re trying to encourage locals to come to get away. They don’t have to go to Port Lincoln or Baird Bay for a luxury getaway,” Mrs Brow said.

Ceduna Shelly Beach Caravan Park has also been awarded for selling the most “Tribal Rewards” loyalty cards as part of the Family Park Australia chain it belongs to in the category for parks with 50 or fewer sites.

“We outsold all the other parks in Australia or New Zealand in the category,” Mr Brown said.

Mr Brown added that the Seadragon cabin was constructed by local builder Johnny Duregon and all materials were provided by local suppliers.
