Elderly get taste of school life

02 Jul, 2009 05:00 AM
Ceduna’s senior citizens were able to taste the work being done at Crossways Lutheran School’s new home economics building at a lunch recently.

Year 10 student Sedale Stuart, Ashley Gray, Adam Coleman, Bradyn Wild, Dakota Miller, Mahalia Milera, Kiarni Coleman, David Miller and Makenzi Harrison presented a meal including spring rolls, beetroot dip with pita bread, potato and cheese soup, ham and vegetable pasta bake and coconut and banana pikelets.

Home ec teacher Deadra Peak said it was a good experience for the students, who also acted as waiters.

“They wanted to do something for the elderly and something they would enjoy eating but also try different recipes,” she said.

The Ceduna Senior Citizens Village residents also enjoyed a poem read by Lucy Harrington’s Reception/Year 1 class.
